Freelance Writer Market Opportunities Through Case Studies

In starting an opportunity in freelance writing, of course we will meet with case studies, and of course we will have a lot of questions. "What is a case study?" "How long is it?" "What is the format?" "How much am I wearing?" And of course we still don't have a clue for it all.

Case studies now rank high on my list of the most exciting - and profitable - projects I've worked on. (I'm so glad a client offered me the job years ago!)

If you're unfamiliar with case studies, don't worry. They are very simple. A case study is just a fancy name for a success story - a story about a happy customer and their experience with a product or service.

Recently, I've noticed that more and more companies are in need of written case studies, but are having trouble finding writers who can do the job. That means OPPORTUNITIES for you and me.

And it got better. Consider the following:

1. Case studies are not difficult to write.

They are similar in style and format to a newsletter article. So if you can write one of them, you can write a case study.

2. Relatively short case studies

Usually about 400-800 words in length. After gaining a little experience, you'll be able to do it in less than a day.

3. The format is standardized

Unlike commercials and direct mail, you won't be stressed out about having to think of a riveting new concept or a catchy headline. The basic structure of a case study is very simple. All you need is to get the facts and write good work.

4. A case study writer is urgently needed

More companies are scrambling to get case studies written today than ever before. I can't give you an exact figure, but it seems to me that the demand for case study authors has increased significantly over the past few years.

5. There is little competition

I'm not sure why, but few copywriters are catching up with this market. Some may not even know it exists. Others may mistakenly think that case studies are boring or technical. Not true! Case study writing is storytelling. That is fun.

6. Case studies pay well

Very good. Now you won't get the superstar rates that big league direct mail copywriters pay. But most clients pay dearly for writing case studies. Making $ 100 per hour is not an unreasonable expectation for an experienced writer. I know many who earn more.

Currently the case study market is booming. Why not take part and be part of this exciting and lucrative writing show?
